The Cloud VMware L1 Operations Engineer is responsible for monitoring, supporting, and maintaining VMware-based cloud infrastructure environments. The engineer performs first-level troubleshooting, incident management, alarm monitoring, and escalation activities to ensure high availability and operational stability of virtualized infrastructure platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Monitoring & Operations
- Monitor VMware infrastructure using enterprise monitoring tools.
- Perform 24x7 operational support for cloud and virtualization platforms.
- Monitor alarms, events, and system health dashboards.
- Respond to incidents within defined SLAs.
- Incident Management
- Handle L1 incidents related to VMware, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure.
- Perform initial troubleshooting and diagnosis.
- Create, update, and track incident tickets.
- Escalate unresolved issues to L2/L3 teams as per operational procedures.
- VMware Administration Support
- Monitor VMware vCenter, ESXi Hosts, Clusters, and Virtual Machines.
- Check resource utilization including CPU, Memory, Storage, and Network.
- Support VM provisioning, reboot requests, and basic administrative tasks.
- Verify backup and recovery job statuses.
- Change & Request Management
- Execute standard operating procedures and approved changes.
- Support service requests related to VM lifecycle operations.
- Maintain operational documentation and logs.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily operational reports and shift handover reports.
- Document incidents, resolutions, and knowledge base articles.
- Ensure compliance with operational guidelines and Ericsson processes.
