- Project Quality Engineer Mechanical Infrastructure Solutions is a critical role responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards in data center infrastructure projects, specifically focusing on HVAC systems, cooling infrastructure, and mechanical installations.
- This position requires a skilled professional with solid experience in quality engineering for mechanical systems, project quality management, and cross-functional coordination.
- The Project Quality Engineer will be instrumental in conducting quality inspections at various project stages, managing vendor quality compliance, and ensuring adherence to industry standards and customer specifications.
- With a strong focus on preventing quality issues in critical cooling infrastructure, this role demands expertise in mechanical systems testing, documentation management, and continuous improvement initiatives to deliver reliable data center solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Project Quality Planning: Develop and implement quality plans for data center infrastructure projects, including HVAC systems, CRAC/CRAH units, chilled water systems, and mechanical installations, ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
•Inspection & Testing: Conduct quality inspections and testing at various project stages (incoming, in-process, and final) for mechanical components and systems including cooling units, piping systems, air handling units, and thermal management systems.
•Vendor Quality Management: Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure quality compliance of HVAC equipment, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and other mechanical components as per specifications.
•Standards Compliance: Ensure adherence to quality standards including ISO 9001, ASHRAE standards (TC 9.9), TIA-942, Uptime Institute Tier Standards, and customer-specific requirements for data center infrastructure.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with project management, engineering, and installation teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Documentation Management: Maintain comprehensive quality documentation including inspection reports, test certificates, FAT/SAT reports, commissioning reports, and compliance records for project deliverables.
• Non-Conformance Management: Identify, document, and resolve non-conformances in collaboration with engineering and project teams, ensuring timely closure of quality issues.
• Customer Interface: Participate in customer quality reviews, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Quality Audits: Conduct internal quality audits and support external audits to ensure project quality system compliance.
• Continuous Improvement: Implement Kaizen and other continuous improvement methodologies to enhance project quality processes and reduce defects.
• Risk Management: Identify potential quality risks in project execution and develop mitigation plans to prevent quality failures in critical cooling infrastructure.
• MIS Reporting: Prepare and update quality metrics, reports, and dashboards for project quality performance and present findings to management and project teams.
• Thermal Performance Verification: Ensure proper airflow management, hot/cold aisle containment systems, and thermal performance meet design specifications and industry best practices.
• Fire Suppression Systems: Verify quality compliance of fire suppression systems installation including FM-200, water mist, and pre-action sprinkler.
